Liverpool Independent Art School and the Drawing Festival

One of the many things that has come out the Liverpool Artist Network (LAN) meetings is the Liverpool Independent Art School (LIAS).

Artist and teacher Paul Gatenby put out an expression of interest looking for artists to get involved and create an independent art school. The aim is for it to be run by professional’s artists passing on their skills, their years of experiences and first hand knowledge, while cutting out the bureaucracy that exists in mainstream education today.

The school will be there for anyone who would like to attend from beginners to the seasoned pros, provide high quality education at a reasonable price, so to maintain the a high standards of teachers who are fairly reward for their time and efforts.

The Liverpool Independent Art school is made up of Paul Gatenby, Liz Mill, Josie Jenkins, Alison Little, Tony O’Connell, Christine Toh and my self Colette Lilley. The website is designed by Patrick Kirk Smith from Art in Liverpool (thank you).

We decided to kick off this new venture with a Drawing Festival, which shall run throughout the month of July.
